RAQUEL WELCH – ONE THOUSAND YEARS B.C., 1966

Raquel Welch became a star in the mid-1960s after her breakthrough role in “Fantastic Voyage”. She also signed a lucrative contract with 20th Century Fox. It was her iconic performance in “One Million Years B.C.” from 1966 that made her a star.

Her first appearance in a bikini was in this film, which immediately captured the imagination of the public. Raquel’s swimsuit, the famous tan “fur-kini”, became a popular culture phenomenon despite her limited dialog in the film. Raquel’s swimsuit was not the most practical for any period, but it cemented her status as a timeless style icon. Her posters have graced many walls throughout the years.
