Jerry Lewis allegedly abused his sons emotionally and physically
Anthony Lewis isn’t shy about his father. He is not afraid to reveal what his life was like with Jerry. In an Inside Edition interview in 2017, he admitted that Jerry had twice beaten him with a belt. However, that was not what frightened him most.
It was, instead, the emotional abuse that he allegedly suffered at the hands his father. You expect your father to love you unconditionally and always look out for you, right? Jerry was allegedly cold-hearted towards his sons when it came to Jerry the comedian. It’s because none of his sons were mentioned in the will of this man and that’s why only a few came to say goodbye during his funeral.
Joseph, his son, was addicted to drugs and lost his life.
Childhood problems can affect a person’s adult life. Lewis’ children were no exception, as some sought therapy to repair the damage done in their youth. This wasn’t their only option. One of Jerry’s children sought a more extreme way to deal with the pain.
Joseph Lewis sought help from various substances, but it quickly became an addiction. He was a slave to it for many years, until 2009 when he died after allegedly taking too much. He hadn’t seen him in years. Jerry didn’t seem to feel the need to pay for funerals, even though he was able to afford them.
