Haludovo Palace Hotel, Krk, Croatia
The Haludovo Palace Hotel, built in 1971, once hosted world leaders as well as actors who visited what was Yugoslavia. Its popularity began to decline in the 1990s after the start of the war. In 2001, it was shut down. The hotel is decaying, with its casinos, tennis courts, and saunas that were once so beautiful.
Land of Oz
The Land of Oz Resort, designed by Jack Pentes in 1970 for $5 million and based on the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz, was destroyed by fire in 1975. The resort’s majority of equipment was destroyed. The park was closed in 1980 and abandoned for forty years. The park was revived in 2019 with limited hours and will be open again for three weekends in September 2023.
